Situation in Syria getting worse every day, says OIC SG Ihsanoglu

JEDDAH (A.A) - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, said Thursday that the situation in Syria was getting worse every day and that tension had to be deescalated in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Turkish reporters about Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan's recent trip to Saudi Arabia, Ihsanoglu said that this visit was highly beneficial. The gross national product of Turkey and Saudi Arabia make up one-fourth of all gross national product within the OIC member states. As such, mutual visits are crucial to boost relations, Ihsanoglu noted. Touching on the situation in Syria and the Strait of Hormuz, Ihsanoglu said that "things were getting worse in Syria each passing day. The tension at the Strait of Hormuz must be brought down. International water ways must remain open".
