Six of 10 college graduates leave their first job in 4 yrs: report

SEOUL, Jan. 26 (Yonhap) -- Six out of 10 college graduates in Korea quit within four years after getting their first jobs due mainly to differing career aptitudes, a state-run think tank's report showed Thursday. According to the Korea Employment Information Service's survey of 18,050 college graduates, only 40.5 percent of them stayed with their initial employer for four years. Nearly 47 percent of those surveyed moved on to other companies, with the remaining 13 percent staying unemployed after leaving their first jobs during the four years, the survey said. Discrepancies between college majors and actual job requirements were cited as one of most frequent reasons for leaving their first job as well as differing career aptitudes and interest, along with wage levels, the survey also showed.
