Six Consecutive Quakes Hit Fars, Hormuzgan Provinces

Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA - Six consecutive earthquakes jolted Ahal and Jenah and their vicinities on the borderlines between Fars and Hormuzgan provinces within three hours Thursday morning. According to provincial seismological base, affiliated to Tehran University, the quakes were registered between 06:27 and 09:10 local time (0157 - 0440 GMT). The quakes measured 5.3, 3.4, 2.9, 4.9, 3.5 and 3.4 on the Richter scale. The main quake was epicentered in an area located at 53.87 degrees longitude and 26.94 degrees latitude, the bureau said. There are no reports on possible casualty or damage caused by the quakes./end
