Six Thai provinces remain flooded

BANGKOK, October 17 (TNA) - The flooding situation has remained in six Thai provinces, including those in the lower northern, eastern and central regions, with over 185,000 flood victims currently. The Ministry of Interior's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on Wednesday that the six flooded provinces include Prachinburi, Chacheongsao, Pitsanulok, Ayutthaya, Suphanburi and Nakhon Pathom, totally affecting more than 185,900 people of over 64,000 households in some 1,000 villages of 22 districts. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives' Royal Irrigation Department said in an updated report that as of October 16, 2012, there were totally some 52.22 billion cubic metres of water at all dams and reservoirs nationwide, or 74 per cent of their overall capacities, over 13.37 billion cubic metres less than last year's amount compared in the corresponding period.
