S.Khorasan Invites More Foreign Tourists To Visit The City

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA - South Khorasan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department has recently witnessed the arrival of a large number of foreign tourists. This eastern province boasts desert-trekking potentials. Edita Murasshkaite, the head of Persian Culture Club in Lithuania, recently traveled to South Khorasan, according to Thursday's edition of 'Iran Daily'. She launched the Persian Culture Club for introducing Iranian culture, customs and traditions. She had earlier held photo exhibitions in a famous cafe and a hotel in Vilnius, capital of Lithuanian, which drew many visitors. She said another photo expo was held in Vilnius University, in cooperation with the Iranian Embassy, last year. “The Persian Culture Club also held Chaharshanbeh Souri and Haft-Seen Table ceremonies in Vilnius University to introduce Norouz (Iranian New Year) customs, which was attended by Iranology professors,” she said. “We make the utmost efforts to introduce Iran, its tribes and culture.” Murasshkaite said she has visited many regions of Iran and is familiar with its history and culture. “I was astonished by the wonders of Iran. I’m surprised that why a country with such an ancient history should remain unknown,” she said. “It is the first time that I have traveled to South Khorasan. I visited Chenesht and Doushangan villages in Darmian and Forg Castle.” She plans to organize three tours of South Khorasan in future. “A three-day tour will be held for visiting its historical attractions and two-day tours will be held for desert trekking.” Murasshkaite was surprised when she visited a workshop in Birjand in which abandoned girls and women were involved in embroidering and weaving kilims and tableau carpets. She said knowing the rural people of South Khorasan and becoming familiar with their customs and natural attractions of the province are the main objectives of her trip./end
