Slump Hits Medium And Large Industries In Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aug 10 (Antara) - The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said a 1.74 percent decline was recorded in the performance of manufacturing industries of medium and large categories in Aceh in the second quarter of this year compared with the previous quarter. "A decline was recorded mainly in the production of chemical industry," Wahyuddin, head of the Aceh office of BPS said here on Wednesday. Positive growth, however, was recorded for food manufacturing and non metal mining industries, Wahyudin said. He said food processing industry recorded a 2.21 percent increase in production and production of non metal mining industry rose 4.16 percent from the first quarter of the same year. Industries in medium category employ 20 up to 99 workers each and large industries employ 100 or more workers. Earlier, BPS head Suhariyanto said the production of the country's medium and large manufacturing industries grew 4 percent in the second quarter of this year . The growth rate was lower from 4.46 percent in the first quarter of the same year. The production growth fell from 5.01 percent in the second quarter of 2016.
