Smog covers several areas in Thai South

SATUN, THAILAND, September 19 (TNA) - White thick smog has covered several areas in the Thai South, affecting visibility of local people, motorists and even trawlers and ferry operators. In Satun Province, smog remained on Friday morning, covering meadows, mountains and roads, especially near Puyu and Yao Islands, despite rainfalls on Thursday evening. Ferry boat operators said they have been affected by the smog, believed to have caused by bush fire from a neighbouring country, for a few days and they have had to cautiously control their boats. Skippers of small boats have reportedly tried to avoid travelling at night for the time being. A local hospital has issued a warning that people should wear face masks, especially those suffering from respiratory ailments, to protect themselves from the haze. In nearby Trang Province, the haze has covered the province for the second day in a row, affecting people in four coastal districts and forcing motorists to open front lights, but visibility was not too low and ferry boats could continue their services.
