SOCAR completing drilling new well in "Umid" gas condensate field, SOCAR First Vice-President

Baku, April 16 (AzerTAc). The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is completing drilling a new well in the "Umid" gas condensate field, SOCAR First Vice-President Khoshbakht Yusifzade said. According to him, some 6,000 meters of the projected 6,450 meters have been drilled in the well. SOCAR is already shipping gas and condensate from the first well in this field to the land. According to SOCAR experts, the amount of the reserves makes more than 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate according to the results of drilling of the first exploration well. The Umid Field is located 75 kilometers from Baku. In 1953 the first geophysical work was carried out there. Operations were first conducted there in 1972 in an improved form. From 1977 to 1992, nine wells were drilled with negative results.
