SOCAR issues detailed info about accident at offshore field

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 23 Trend: The structures collapsed at the faulty platform #441 of the Narimanneft Oil and Gas Exploration Office during the repair works on Oct. 23, according to an official message from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). The incident happened at about at about 12:00 (local time), the message said. As a result, a workers’ locker room on the platform fell onto a gas pipeline with a diameter of 700 millimeters, damaging it and causing a fire. Some 45 minutes later the fire was extinguished. About 41 people were working at the site when the structures collapsed. As a result of operative measures taken by the rescue brigade immediately after the accident, some 37 people were evacuated from the scene to the beach on Orion-15 and PSK-52 vessels. The injured employees were treated by the doctors. Currently, search is underway to find four more people, who supposedly fell into the sea.
