Social Affairs Minister Reviews Lebak Quake-Affected Areas

JAKARTA, Jan 24 (Antara) - Social Affairs Minister Idrus Marham left Jakarta at around 6.30 am West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) on Wednesday for Lebak District, Banten Province, to review Tuesday's earthquake-affected areas in Cilograng sub-district. The earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale on Tuesday afternoon hit Lebak and some of its neighboring areas, including Jakarta, Purwakarta, Bandung, South Tangerang, and Lampung in Sumatra. Minister Marham is expected to arrive in Lebak at 10 am WIB, and will be accompanied by Banten Vice Governor Andika Hazrumy to review the quake-affected areas. The strong earthquake that occurred at at 1.34 pm WIB on Tuesday damaged at least at least 311 homes in 12 sub-districts. The quake's epicenter was located at 7.21 degree southern latitude and 105.91 degree eastern longitude, 81 kilometers southwest of Lebak, and at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to Kaprawi, head of the Lebak Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD). According to report received from the Disaster Mitigation Agency of Lebak, 34 houses suffered heavy damage, while the other 277 houses sustained slight damage.
