Somali students leave for Turkey

MOGADISHU (A.A) – 200 Somali students and 40 religious officials left for Turkey on Thursday within the scope of a project by the Directorate of Religious Affairs and the Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation (TDV). Officials told AA correspondent that Somali students and religious officials would receive training Turkey under the project. Speaking to the AA, Turkish ambassador in Somali capital of Mogadishu Cemalettin Kani Torun said that after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to famine-stricken Somalia, Turkish public institutions and nongovernmental organizations extended great assistance to this country. Students who were brought to Turkey for education would build the future of Somalia in the coming years, Torun said. Another group of students will also travel to Turkey on Friday.
