Some 120b Cubic Meters Of Gas Produced In Iran since March 21

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA – Since start of the current Iranian year, some 120 billion cubic meters of gas has been produced in Iran, Director of Dispatching Department of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan Montazer Torbati, said on Sunday. Torbati said presently, 550 million to 600 million cubic meters of gas are produced a day. Iran is rich in terms of hydrocarbon resources in the world. Iran has record of more than a century exploration and producing activities; the first successful exploration operation was carried at Masjid Suleiman-1 oilfield on May 26, 1908. According to the latest oil and gas reports, 145 hydrocarbon fields and 297 oil and gas reservoirs have been discovered in Iran. A total of 102 oilfields and 43 gas fields are under operation, and there are 205 oil reservoirs and 92 natural gas reservoirs. Some 23 hydrocarbon fields lie in border areas and are shared between Iran and adjacent countries, including Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan./end
