South Korean Navy Cruise Ships Call To Promote South Korea-M'sia Ties

PORT KLANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The South Korean Navy Cruise Ship Training Group (CTTG) is docking here for the 20th time since 1963 to forge closer ties between the navies of Malaysia and South Korea. The two CTTG ships, comprising a destroyer and a logistics vessel weighing 4,400 tonnes and 4,200 tonnes respectively, arrived at the Port Klang Cruise Centre at about 9.30am Thursday with 650 crew members, including 140 navy cadet officers, for a four-day visit. Speaking at a welcoming ceremony for the delegation, Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Chun Jungsoo said the visit, hopefully, would strengthen the existing relations between the two navies and expose the South Korean navy crew to the various cultures and the history of Malaysia. He said the delegation would be paying courtesy calls on top Malaysian navy officers and visit the Malaysia National Defence University. Chun said various activities had also been arranged for Malaysians in conjunction with the visit, including a South Korean defence industry exhibition onboard the ship from 10am to 4pm tomorrow and on Saturday. The call on Malaysia is one of nine stops of the CTTG world cruise in conjunction with its 61st anniversary and it will be sailing to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Sunday. (photoBernama) -- BERNAMA
