Southern governor chairs security meeting

Manama, June 12 (BNA): Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, chaired the Security Committee’s meeting at the governorate’s premises here today. Southern Governorate Police Director-General, Brigadier Hamad bin Ali Al-Marri, and committee members attended. The governor stressed that safeguarding the security of the local citizens tops the priorities of the Southern Governorate, given the fact that security is essential for the development march witnessed by the kingdom. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali commended the efforts exerted by the security personnel to strengthen the pillars of security across the governorate, in line with the directives of the Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa. The committee discussed a number of important security issues, including the Southern Governorate Police Directorate’s preparations for Eid Al-Fitr to avoid accidents and violations during the occasion. Brigadier Al-Marri gave a presentation about the Southern Governorate Police Directorate’s security plan to secure mosques across the governorate during Eid Al-Fitr parayers, stressing the security personnel’s readiness. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali was informed about the security campaigns and activities carried out by the Southern Governorate Police Directorate during the holy month of Ramadan, in line with his directives to deploy security staff in mosques and roads, increase the presence of women police in women’s prayers areas and holding awareness-raising security campaigns. The governor was also informed about the main traffic plans and preparations put forward by the General Directorate of Traffic to monitor traffic during Eid Al-Fitr holidays to avoid traffic congestions that may result from the events associated with the occasion, stressing the need to intensify control efforts in avenues and roads in which violations and wrong driving behaviours occur to ensure the safety of road users.  Committee members expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the governor for his personal follow-up on all matters related to the security and well-being of the Southern Governorate’s citizens.
