Southern trains packed with returning holiday revelers

SONGKHLA, THAILAND, August 13 (TNA) - Like other rail routes, Thailand's southern trains have been packed with passengers returning to their hometowns, after a four-day National Mother's Day holiday, showing a public confidence in train services and safety. The Hat Yai Train Station in Songkhla Province was crowded with revelers returning home or being back to work in the southern Thai province or nearby areas, including those in the three southernmost provinces or Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani. All of the southern trains provided by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) were reportedly crowded with passengers during the four-day long weekend, from August 9-12, especially ladies and children cars which have specially served women and girls, as well as boys aged not older than 10 years old or with the limited height of 150 centimetres. The ladies and children bogies, with tightened security measures against theft and crime, have been in service since August 1, 2014, with the SRT announcing that additional close circuit television (CCTV) cameras to be installed on board the specially-provided cars within the next couple of months.
