Southern violence has no impacts on New Year celebrations: Deputy PM

SUKHOTHAI, Dec 26 (TNA) – Violent incidents in the far South last night would have no impacts on tourism during the New Year festival, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said. Gen Prawit who is also the defence minister said he would propose to the cabinet security measures to ensure public safety during the New Year festival. They include road safety measures as the government intends to reduce road fatalities during the New Year period this year. Regarding violent incidents at many locations in southern border areas last night, Gen Prawit said there had been warnings about attempts to destroy public utilities in the far South during public holidays. He ordered the army chief to visit the areas of the violent incidents to follow up security measures. Gen Prawit said he did not think the incidents would affect tourism in southern border provinces during the New Year festival. (TNA)
