Speaker assumes AIPU presidency

Cairo, Feb. 18 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, the Chairperson of the parliamentary delegation’s Executive Committee, was handed over today the presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), succeeding Saqr Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the United Arab Emirates. The transfer of the presidency protocols took place during the 32nd conference of AIPU being held in the Egyptian capital Cairo. The Representatives Council Speaker will preside over the next session of AIPU. The Representatives Council Speaker affirmed resolve to continue building on previous achievements in the Arab parliamentary march to achieve the desired goals and promote the Arab parliamentary presence at the international level. She also thanked Saqr Ghobash for his remarkable efforts during his presidency of AIPU.
