Speaker elected IPU’s High-Level Advisory Group on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism member

Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): The Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy has achieved a new milestone, under the comprehensive development march of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Delegation, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, was selected uncontested by the Arab group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPI) as member of IPU’s High-Level Advisory Group on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism. Shura Council member, Hala Ramzi, was also chosen as a member of the IPU’s Bureau of Women Parliamentarians, and MP Abdulla Al-Thawadi as member of IPU’s Working Group on Science and Technology, both to represent the Arab Group at IPU. This came as the First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, and Secretary-General of the Representatives Council, Chancellor Rashid Mohammed Bu Najmah, participated in the coordination meeting of the Arab parliamentary group, held here today under the chairmanship of the UAE Federal National Council Speaker, and Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union President, Saqr Ghobash.
