Speaker holds virtual meeting with Turkmen counterpart

Manama, Oct. 29 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal has underscored the council’s keenness on boosting the parliamentary diplomacy to back the national efforts to promote economic openness and investment opportunities as well as support the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Representatives Council Speaker was speaking at a virtual meeting today with Chairperson of the Assembly of Turkmenistan, the Mejilis, Gülşat Mämmedowa. They discussed boosting parliamentary cooperation and forming a friendship committee between the councils of the two friendly countries. Zainal underlined keenness of the Representatives Council on bolstering external parliamentary relations and laying bridges of friendship and cooperation with parliaments all over the world. She also voiced interest in highlighting national achievements and availing of the best international experiences to serve the nation and citizens. The Representatives Council Speaker praised growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Turkmenistan thanks to the care and support of HM the King and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. She stressed the importance of continued parliamentary efforts in the political, cultural, economic and investment fields. Gülşat Mämmedowa lauded growing bilateral relations and cooperation between both countries, mainly in the economic and investment fields. She also commended fast development in Bahrain and the opportunity it offers for joint work in the future.
