Speaker receives ambassadors

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation with the parliaments of brotherly and friendly countries and supporting the economic field, especially in light of the spread of the novel coronavirus and its effects on such a vital sector. She also called for bolstering cooperation with other countries to be able to face challenges and bring about more development achievements that would benefit countries and their peoples. The speaker lauded Bahrain’s progress strides under the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, praising the royal keenness to strengthen relations with other countries, as well as boost regional and global cooperation, coordination and joint action. Zainal made the statements while receiving here today the Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain, Yasser Shaaban. During the meeting, she lauded the advanced level of the Bahraini-Egyptian cooperation, the depth of the long-standing relations and the keenness of the two brotherly countries to enhance joint Arab action. The speaker also met the German Ambassador, Kai Thamo Boeckmann, and the Italian Ambassador, Paola Amadei. She discussed with them ways to strengthen Bahrain’s relations with their friendly countries. During the meetings, the speaker extended invitations to her Egyptian, German and Italian counterparts to visit Bahrain to support parliamentary diplomacy, and discuss ways to bolster the kingdom’s cooperation with their countries.
