Speaker stresses support to women's political participation

Manama, Jun. 3 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, has stressed the council’s support for Bahraini women’s political participation. Bahrain has always been the forefront regarding women’s political participation, and this is reflected in the prestigious status they enjoy in their society under the pioneering Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks to the unlimited support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).  Al-Mulla was speaking as he received here today the Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain (UoB)’s Sociology Department, Dr. Moza Al-Duwei, who presented him with a copy of her book entitled: “The Political Participation of Bahraini Women: Challenges and Ambitions.”  The speaker explained that the female members of the Council of Representatives, who had been elected by the Bahraini people, represent the council at various parliamentary gatherings, which, he said, reflects the image of the Bahraini women who carry out their duties to the fullest, and serve their nation dedicatedly. Al-Mulla congratulated Dr. Al-Duwei on her distinguished research, stressing the importance of the political participation theme.
