Speedboats crash in Thai South, two killed

BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) - Two speedboats, carrying a total of 62 passengers, have crashed between Phuket and Krabi Provinces in the Thai South, killing two foreign tourists and injuring 26 others. Phuket's Deputy Marine Police Commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasert Srikhunnarat told journalists that he was reported on the incident around noon on Wednesday. Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasert said the two speedboats collided offshore between Dok Mai and Phi Phi Islands and passengers aboard, mostly Chinese and South Korean tourists, have been assisted to mainland at Rasada and Asia Marina Piers by a rescue team and a private boat, with those injured having been sent to hospitals. According to the senior marine police officer, two passengers died from the crash and an official investigation into the cause of incident has been underway. (TNA)
