Spokesman: More delegates want to speak, closing ceremony delayed

Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman said since more delegates have asked to address NAM summit, the closing ceremony will be delayed for one hour. Ramin Mihman-parast told reporters that according to schedule, the closing ceremony was to be held at 17:00, but it has to be delayed because of more request to address the meeting. He added that holding the summit in Tehran has been the greatest politico-historical event in Iran and presence of the heads of states and senior officials from Non-Aligned Movement member countries indicates the importance of the event. He stated that the NAM members, by getting acquainted with Iran's abilities, expect that Tehran, during its 3-year chairmanship, to turn the movement into an efficient international body to defend rights of independent states. The spokesman underlined that the NAM meeting is to fulfill motto of 'sustainable peace under the auspices of world joint management.' Referring to enemies' news boycott on NAM summit, he stressed that these media should know that member states of NAM have good mutual understanding and problems are being solved by dialogue. Mihman-parast, by referring to approval of draft final document of Tehran meeting in the session of experts and foreign ministers, said that the document includes 701 articles and will be approved by heads of states in the closing ceremony.
