S'pore Minister Attends 14th ASCC Council Meeting In KL

SINGAPORE, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin is representing Singapore at the two-day 14th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Meeting in Kuala Lumpur beginning Tuesday. In a statement, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, Malaysia said the ASCC Council is one of three ASEAN Community Councils – the other two being the ASEAN Political-Security Community Council and ASEAN Economic Community Council. The scope of ASCC Council’s work includes the environment, disaster management, education, information, culture, health, sports, youth, women, children, manpower, rural development, poverty eradication, social welfare and civil service training matters. On the agenda, the Meeting will exchange views on the progress of the implementation of the ASCC Blueprint, the development of the post-2015 ASEAN Vision and relevant documents, and preparations for the 27th ASEAN Summit. Accompanying Tan are officials from the Ministry of Social and Family Development. -- BERNAMA
