Sputnik V to become powerful tool in fight against coronavirus in Nicaragua — authorities

MEXICO, February 4. /TASS/. The Sputnik V vaccine will become a powerful tool for protection of Nicaraguan people from the coronavirus infection, says Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo. "The Sputnik V vaccine is 91.6% effective, it is widespread, and […] it will become a powerful tool for improvement of health and life of Nicaraguan families," Murillo said, according to El 19 Digital. She noted that the authorities "move forward in negotiations with the Russian Federation, with the relevant agencies, in order to guarantee a […] prompt shipment" of the Russian vaccine to Nicaragua. Murillo recalled that the Ministry of Health of the republic approved the vaccine for use in order to fight the coronavirus pandemic. According to the vice president, Nicaragua has become the sixth Latin American country that stated its intent to use the Russian vaccine. Nicaragua also plans to receive the vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca under the World Health Organization’s COVAX international mechanism. Besides, the republican authorities stated their intent to procure the Covaxin vaccine, developed by India’s Bharat Biotech. Read more
