State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Intellectuals

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were conferred on meritorious intellectuals on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star. The intellectuals achieved research successes conducive to the economic development of the country and improvement of the standard of the people's living and made tangible contributions to the education of the rising generation. According to a decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles, professorship was conferred on Jo Myong Bong, department head of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Kil Nam, department director of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Choe Nam Sun, department head of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, and others. Doctorate went to 45 persons including Kim Kwang Min, vice dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Myong Chan, department head of Kim Chaek University of Technology, So Hak Chol, department head of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Ro Chol Yon, department head of Kim Chol Ju University of Education, and Jong Chol Song, vice department head of University of National Economy. 188 persons received associate professorship, and 1 011 master's degree. -0-
