State of Qatar Welcomes Truce in Afghanistan and the Release of Hundreds of Prisoners

Doha, August 20 (QNA) - The State of Qatar welcomed the announcement of Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani of a truce initiated by the Afghan government for a ceasefire at the start of Eid Al-Adha. The State of Qatar called on Taliban movement to accept the truce, especially during Eid Al-Adha. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday, Qatar welcomes the announcement by both the Afghan government and Taliban movement to release hundreds of prisoners during Eid Al-Adha. The State of Qatar considered it a step in the right way to demonstrate goodwill from all parties. The Foreign Ministry statement said that the State of Qatar hopes these procedures pave the way for a dialogue between the parties of conflict in Afghanistan, for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
