The State of Qatar Welcomes Yemen Partnership Agreement

Geneva, September 26 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has welcomed the agreement recently reached to end the political crisis in Yemen, expressing hope that the implementation of this agreement would restore security and stability and consolidates the principle of national partnership in the framework of a comprehensive political reconciliation that maintains the rights of the Yemeni people. This came in a speech delivered by Al-Mohannad Ali Al-Hammadi, Charge d'Affaires at the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar in Geneva, during a public discussion on the reports of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, under the twenty-seventh session of the Human Rights Council held during the period between 8-26 September. Al-Hammadi praised the efforts made by the Yemeni government for the promotion and protection of human rights, and its interest to move forward in the implementation of the outputs of the comprehensive national dialogue Conference. "We welcome in this respect the agreement which was recently reached to end the political crisis in Yemen, and we look forward that the implementation of this agreement would restore security and stability and consolidate the principle of national partnership in the context of the comprehensive political reconciliation to maintain the rights of the Yemeni people, " he said. Al-Hammadi also welcomed the cooperation of the Government of Sri Lanka with the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council, praising its keenness to providing periodic reports to concerned treaties' committees, referring to the recent visit of the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants to Sri Lanka. He called on the Sri Lankan government to continue its efforts to complete the process of national reconciliation, including the implementation of the national plan of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission.
