Stop Questioning The Credibility Of The Special Task Force - JKMR Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- The Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR) called on all parties to stop making statements questioning the integrity, credibility and composition of the Special Task Force in its investigation of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). The committee's chairman Abu Zahar Ujang said JKMR, established under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act, was an independent body which monitored the operations of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), has been, and is still closely following the progress of the investigation into the case. "The Special Task Force is a body which is represented by the four top leaders of agencies are which are able to, and capable of making a thorough investigation, independently and transparently. "JKMR believes that the 1MDB case, which is being investigated by the task force is a very important and serious case of national interest, therefore, give them the opportunity to investigate, and carry out the responsibilities that have been entrusted upon them," he said in a statement here, Wednesday. Abu Zahar said JKMR would ask MACC to present the findings in detail to Parliament, once the investigation has been completed by the task force. Abu Zahar said JKMR was disappointed with the statements made by various parties, including the chairman of Gerakan Harapan Baru, Mohamad Sabu, who claimed that the investigation conducted by the Special Task Force was aimed to protect the real facts from emerging. "This claim is malicious and irresponsible, and JKMR thinks it is slander and baseless allegations," he said. He also hoped that all members of Parliament did not forget their oath during their appointments as members of the Parliament and the Senate, to remain loyal to Malaysia, and protect, as well as defend the Constitution. JKMR comprises seven members of Parliament - from Barisan Nasional, DAP, PKR and PAS, all appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. --BERNAMA
