The Straits Times Marks 170th Anniversary With e-book

SINGAPORE, July 15 (Bernama) -- The Straits Times, which celebrates its 170th anniversary Wednesday, is to launch an e-book that highlights important events in Singapore's history as reported by it. The e-book, titled 'Living History: 170 Years of The Straits Times', can be downloaded for free from Wednesday. The Straits Times was established in 1845, less than three decades after Sir Stamford Raffles laid the foundation of modern Singapore. Warren Fernandez, Editor of The Straits Times, said in a statement released by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd: "When a big story breaks, reporters spring into action, to cover all angles. In many cases, we live through history in the making. "The stories by successive generations of ST journalists are captured in its pages, pictures and videos. These come alive in this e-book on the significant moments in Singapore, as seen and told in the ST over the years." --BERNAMA
