Street Arts to be displayed at Ratchaprasong to draw back tourists

BANGKOK, September 16 (TNA) -- The Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) has planned to turn the shopping district into an exhibition for street art displays, with an aim to bring in more colours to the district to attract back international visitors, after a bomb attack rocked the shopping business heart last month. Areas surrounding the Ratchaprasong district have been turned into colourful displays of street art, including paintings, installations and graffiti from various artists, which were inspired to create works of arts that would represent the strength and entertainment of this Bangkok's shopping heart under the concept, Stronger Together, recently meted out by the government following a bomb attack in the district a month ago. RSTA Chairman Chai Srivikorn admitted that the number of visitors to the shopping district has decreased by over 60 percent since the bomb attack last month, and he hopes that the street arts exhibitions would help to return confidence among tourists in the district's safety and draw them back into shopping here. He further informed that the RSTA has planned to remedy the situation by organising various activities that would help to stimulate tourism up until the end of the year and is expecting that the activities would help to generate over 1 billion baht in revenue for business located at Ratchaprasong.
