Strict measure imposed in Phangnga to stop human trafficking

PHANGNGA, May 24 (TNA) - Governor of the southern resort province of Phangnga, Prayoon Rattanasenee, has asked provincial police and administrative officials to impose stricter measure, aimed at ridding human trafficking. As the number of Rohingya migrants arriving in Thailand and its neighbouring countries has risen sharply lately, Mr. Prayoon has asked police and administrative officials to stay alert and search suspicious vehicles. Police checkpoints have been set up in Muang and Takua Pa districts, said Mr. Prayoon, adding that some 300 Rohingya people, who were victims of human traffickers were rescued by officials during the past two months. Many of them were sent home after it was proven that they were lured by traffickers, he said. (TNA)
