Strong Aftershock Jolts Saravan

Zahedan, April 17, IRNA – An aftershock measuring 4.4 on Richter scale jolted Saravan city in Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Tuesday afternoon. According to the report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 18:24 local time ( 13:54 hours GMT) and its epicenter was at 28.24 degrees latitude and 62.30 degrees longitude and in depth of 100 kilometers. The aftershock occurred 97 kilometers far from Saravan city, 106 kilometers from Khush and 1319 kilometers from Tehran. There is no immediate report on possible casualties or damage of the aftershock. An earthquake measuring 7.5 on Richter scale, which jolted center and south of Sistan and Baluchestan province on Tuesday afternoon at 15:25 hour local time had no casualties, according to IRNA.
