Students Accuse Legislators Of Wasting Tax Payers' Money In Travels

Sumenep, East Java, Aug 29 (Antara) - A group of students demonstrated in front of the Sumenep district legislative office protesting officials travels by district legislators over the past five years. The students accused the legislators of wasting tax payers money in traveling to other regions. "Don`t waste the tax payers` money for travels. The district budget should be used for the interest of the people," they said. The newly installed members of the legislative body for the 2014-2019 terms should not repeat the mistake committed by their predecessors , one of the protesters Hazmi said. Hazmi said the people gain nothing from official travels by the legislators, adding, "it is nothing but pleasure trip." "Please don`t cheat the people . There are many useful activities that need funding. Therefore don`t waste the people`s money in travels," he said. Meanwhile in Jakarta the economic team of President elect Joko Widodo and Vice President elect Jusuf Kalla plans to cut government travel spending to cope with swelling budget deficit.
