Students In Thai North Suffer From Cold Snap

MAE HONG SON, November 29 (TNA) - Tens of thousands of students in the Thai North are now suffering from a cold snap, prompting local education officials to have distributed winter clothes and blankets to the northern students, including those in Mae Hong Son Province. According to chief of Mae Hong Son's primary education office, region 1, Boontiam Angsawadi, a recent survey found that some 10,000 students of 128 local highland schools were in need of donated winter clothes to alleviate the cold. Boontiam said that his office has not only handed out the winter clothes to the needy students, but has also launched a campaign on gathering public donations of winter clothes to the affected students, as a colder spell is expected to hit the Thai North for a longer period this winter, and that the first caravan on the donated winter clothes will be released to the local students on December 6.
