Subsidence on Suvarnabhumi Airport's eastern runway fixed

SAMUT PRAKAN, THAILAND, July 25 (TNA) - Eastern runway of Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport was temporarily closed down for emergency maintenance on Thursday morning. Director of Suvarnabhumi International Airport Raveewan Nettrakawesana later announced that a five-centimetre-deep and one-foot-wide subsidence on the eastern runway has already been fixed, after the airport ordered a one-hour closure for repair, from 9:45am to 10:45am. Raveewan confirmed that there was not any serious impact from the incident, as flights had, in the meantime, shifted to the Suvarnabhumi Airport's western runway. The Suvarnabhumi International Airport's eastern runway has then been re-opened for its normal aviation services since 11am. Meanwhile, Aeronautical Radio of Thailand President Squadron Leader Prajak Sajjasophon acknowledged that five flights were delayed during the one-hour maintenance of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport's eastern run, about 10 minutes each on average.#END
