Sudanese envoy visits Bahrain GPIC

Manama, July 11 (BNA): Sudanese Ambassador to Bahrain Ibrahim Al-Hassan visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) to hold meetings with Company President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and Senior Officials. Dr. Jawahery conveyed to the guests the greetings of the Chairman and the Board of Directors and spoke about the historical friendship between the two countries and the exports of 20,000 tonnes of GPIC products to Sudan every year since 2012. He said GPIC enjoys a very high level of co-operation with the Sudanese market, where its products are well received and trusted. Dr. Jawahery briefed the visitors on the nature of the Company's work, its operational strategy, production and exports as well as the high quality of its petrochemical products and fertilisers manufactured with the best international standards in safety, quality and environmental conservation. The guests were also given an overview of the carbon dioxide recovery project, the first of its kind in the Middle East and which reduces harmful emissions from factory operations. The visitors learnt about GPIC’s training activities at the Academy of Leadership and Learning and the e-Learning Centre, which caters to the training needs of students from the University of Bahrain and other higher academic institutions. Dr. Jawahery later accompanied the ambassador to a tour of the complex, during which they visited the various environmental projects, including the HRH Princess Sabeeka Aromatic Plants Garden, the Botanical Garden and the Medicinal Herbs and Therapeutic Plants Garden. They also went to the charity fish farm and the bird sanctuary. The ambassador also planted a tree to commemorate his visit and express his support to the conservation of the environment. He said he was greatly impressed with what he saw and applauded the successful example of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) coordination, which he said should be followed by all Arab countries. Al- Hassan said his visit was a good opportunity to take a closer look at one of the most well-known Bahraini companies committed to preserving the environment.
