Supporting anti-Iran sanctions against Islamic World solidarity

Tehran, March 3, IRNA – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was initially established to promote solidarity among Islamic countries while supporting US sanctions breaches solidarity among Muslims, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gholam-Hossein Dehqani said. Dehqani who is in Abu Dhabi to attend the 46th session of the OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers also participated in expert meetings such as the special committee and the Islamic countries' consultation meeting on OIC role in developing relations among member states. Stressing the central role of Palestinian issue as a priority on OIC agenda, he said the organization will not let any new development distract the attention of the Islamic World from its most important and enduring issue which is Palestine. He also described relocation of US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Holy Quds as part of US conspiracy which has been labled as the 'Deal of Century'. On December 6, 2017, the US President Donald Trump decided to relocate the US diplomatic mission from Tel Aviv to Holy Quds and to recognize Quds as the capital city of the Zionist regime of Israel. He regretted that certain OIC member states spared no effort to distract the organization's attention from the rights of the Palestinian people to other irrelevant issues. Noting that terrorism and extremism have been defeated in many casesm, he said Iran was proud of its role in achieving this goal. However, he warned, the anti-human Takfiri ideology is still alive and is busy poisoning youths' minds all over the Islamic World. It is regretful that the OIC is changing its priorities; he said, adding that a few member states are adding this independent and important international organization to their foreign policy system. This act will result in undermining OIC credibility, Dehqani reiterated. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
