Supreme Council of Health announces that a new death caused by MERS-CoV

Doha, May 28 (QNA) - The Supreme Council of Health announces that a new death caused by MERS-CoV has been registered for a 73 years old Qatari patient who had history of chronic illnesses and has died over the disease complications, may Allah accept him with his mercy. This is considered the first case to die in 2015 among the 4 newly reported cases with MERS-CoV. However, the second MERS-CoV case which was reported on Thursday May 21st is still admitted in stable health condition and receiving appropriate care. In this context, SCH proclaims that all public and private healthcare facilities remain on alert to identify and immediately report any suspected case to Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control Department through the hotline numbers 66740948 or 66740951. All persons with low immunity or chronic diseases are advised to comply with the World Health Organization recommendations by avoiding any close contact with camels and to monitor themselves for fever and respiratory illness to report to health authorities if they develop any of these symptoms.(QNA)
