Suspected drug smuggler arrested

Manama, May 26 (BNA): The Director of Air Exists Customs today announced the arrest of a foreign traveler that carried powder substance suspected to be heroin weighting 1559.6 grams at the Bahrain International Airport. He said that customs officers suspected the traveler and was referred to the red route for searching, in which a quantity weighting 948.3 grams of the suspected powder was found inside his slippers and the remaining quantity of 611.3 grams was found inside his handbag. He said that the suspect and the confiscated items had been handed to the Anti-narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science for legal proceedings before referring the case to the Public Prosecution.
