Suspected watch thieves sneak out of Thailand

BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) - Three Chinese men suspected of stealing a 10 million baht-diamond watch from a shopping centre in Bangkok's Ratchaprasong area have fled the country. Chief of Thai Immigration Police Lieutenant General Panu Kerdlarppol told journalists on Thursday that the shopping centre's closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera caught a footage of the three suspects leaving the shopping mall, after committing the crime and calling a cab. Police Lieutenant General Panu said a further probe found that one of the suspects asked to be dropped off around Chulalongkorn University, while the rest proceeded to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. According to the Thai immigration police chief, the three Chinese men, identified as Fajun He, Zhenzu Wu and Shaohua Ye, later left Thailand on the same flight, ZH9024, bound for Shenzhen in southern China. The Thai immigration police chief showed the photos of the three Chinese suspects at a press conference, reporting that the three suspects arrived in Thailand at midnight of April 15 and fled the country at 7pm on the same day (local time). The immigration police commissioner acknowledged that the three Chinese suspects were conspicuous, as they were traveling to Thailand without any belonging or luggage and the Thai police were inspecting whether the three men had arrived in Thailand before and whether or not they have any criminal record in the Thai Kingdom. The Thai Immigration Police Bureau has, in the mean time, coordinated with the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok on tracking down and sending the three suspects to Thailand for prosecution, while seeking the court's approval of arrest warrants against the trio, who have already been blacklisted as personae non grata in Thailand.
