Swedish Deputy Environment Tours Central Kalimantan

Palangka Raya, Oct 23 (Antara) - Swedish deputy environment minister Anders Flanking, along with Central Kalimantan Governor Agustin Teras Narang, viewed forest conservation work currently underway in the province on Wednesday. The visiting Swedish Deputy Minister and the governor toured the village forest located at Buntoi and Jabiren villages, Pulang Pisau District, according to public relations officer of the Central Kalimantan Benius here on Wednesday. The Swedish official was also scheduled to visit oil palm plantations company PT Graha Inti Jaya, the Environment communication centre at Buntoi village and peat land areas at Jabiren village, Benius said. In addition, the Swedish official was also expected to have discussions with the Pulang Pisau District government, along with the local community, to discuss forest conservation in the Central Kalimantan province. Benius said, further, that the Swedish deputy minister�s visit was a follow up to the sustainable urban development agreement and cooperation on environmental affairs between Sweden and Indonesia, which was signed in May 2013. Before coming to Central Kalimantan, the Swedish deputy minister had visited the cities of Semarang and Bandung in Central Java and West Java, Benius added.
