Swedish FM calls for removal of West’s anti-Iran sanctions

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA - Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt called for removal of the US-led western sanctions imposed on Iran. “There is no reason that the European Union cannot annul some parts of the sanctions against iran,” Bildt said. On Saturday, Head of Iranian Parliament’s Group for Relations with the European Parliament, Kazzem Jalali blasted Washington for breaching nuclear deal by the latest series of sanctions on Iranian firms. Jalali told the visiting EU delegation for relations with Iran that Washington damaged the process of confidence-building and goodwill by the new series of sanctions on Iranian firms. Jalali said that the West has made a mistake in decision making about Iran as it lacks a true analysis of the realities of Iranian society. Jalali, who is also a member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, called for continued relations between the Iranian and the European parliaments. The head of the European delegation, Tarja Cronberg, for her part, said the European Parliament backs the recent agreement between Iran and Group5+1 in Geneva and hopes the two sides would take confidence-building measures to go ahead with the talks. Cronberg said the media try to present a false image of the realities of the Iranian society to the world and sending different delegations helps to get familiarized with what is really happening in Iran.
