Swiss man arrested on fraudulent charges

BANGKOK, Aug 8 (TNA) - A 68-year-old Swiss man, wanted by police in his country on several fraudulent charges, was apprehended by Thai police early Saturday, police said. Zumbach Chistoph was arrested at his rented condominium in Sattahip of Chon Buri province. He has been living in Thailand since 2014. According to Swiss police, Mr. Chistoph, a former car driving instructor, filed several complaints to insurance firms in Switzerland that he and his students encountered road accidents and had taken about 600,000 Swiss franc, equivalent (about 20 million baht), from those companies. The man had committed the same practice for about 10 years. He escaped to Thailand with the money after Swiss police issued warrants for arrest, said Thai police. He denied charges while Thai police plan to deport him to Switzerland. (TNA)
