Tabung Haji Emphasises Comfort And Welfare Of Pilgrims

MAKKAH, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Pilgrims Fund Board or Tabung Haji (TH) always emphasises the comfort and welfare of Malaysian haj pilgrims, its Group Deputy Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Johan Abdullah said. To achieve this, he said, discussions were held with service providers here to ensure they meet the needs of Malaysian pilgrims. "With the current situation in Makkah and Medina, with the expansion projects, it is affecting the pilgrims' comfort, but we always monitor and discuss with the muassasah (Haj handling bodies) to try to address whatever problems that arise," he told the Malaysian media here Friday. Also present were Haj Senior General manager Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman and chairman of the Southeast Asia Muassasah Mustafa H. Damanhouri. Earlier, Johan discussed with Mustafa on preparations for the coming Haj season. According to Johan, among matters discussed were on the recruitment of workers for the haj season. "We also discussed the air conditioning facility for pilgrims in Mina and Arafat, and also on food preparation, including to heat frozen food before they are served to pilgrims," he added. On renovation works being carried out at the Aziziah Hospital here, he said it was expected to be ready before the haj season. --BERNAMA
