Taking copies of only front-sided ID cards:Authority

BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) - In order to save unnecessary costs faced by the public, Panit Nitithanprapas, chief of Thailand's Office of the Ombudsman, told reporters on Saturday she has proposed to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit that the copy of people's only front-sided identification cards is sufficient in submitting the focal individual document to government offices. Panit said several complaints were made by the public that they had to photo-taking on both the front and back sides of their ID cards when they have to contact with government agencies, forcing them to pay additional costs. Panit acknowledged that vital information of ID card holders appears on the front side of their ID cards; so, it is considered unnecessary to take pictures of the back side in order to save printing costs and also save time of concerned officials.
