TASS and South Korean agency announce partnership plan

ST. PETERSBURG, June 19. /TASS/ Russian news agency TASS and South Korean counterpart Younhap will conclude a new cooperation treaty this autumn following partnership talks on Friday between TASS Director General Sergey Mikhailov and Yonhap vice-president Lee Hong Ki. "We need to think the treaty over and take into consideration all the wishes of both sides," said the Russian agency chief as the two organisations decided to form a working group to develop the new relationship. A visit by TASS executives to South Korean capital Seoul this November was also on the agenda - Russia's agency chief chairing the executive office of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), created by United Nations agency UNESCO and numbering 43 news agencies from 35 countries. OANA's last session, in Malaysia in February, resolved to ban publication of messages which could promote terrorist organisations' activity and to exclude their specific slang, rhetoric and symbols.
