TAT office in Thai south satisfied as long holiday hiked number of tourists

TRANG, May 6 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Southern Office expressed satisfactions on tourism in Trang province during this weekend's long holiday, while planning to expand tourism in the Thai south by 8-10 per cent for 2017. Hotel reservations in the province have been fully booked since December of last year, particularly for the current long weekend of May 5-9, as many Thais have decided to take their families and friends for a vacation on the beach since most have missed the opportunity during the New Year. The Morakot or Emerald Cave remained the top tourist attraction among both domestic and international visitors, whereas Trang has also been named as the TAT's 12 hidden gems tourists shouldn't miss which prompted the number of tourists to increase continuously. The TAT office in the south, meanwhile, has brainstormed with local tourism business group and restaurants owners in Trang, Phuket, and Krabi province, as well as other concerned agencies to work out concrete plans to expand local tourism by 8-10 per cent in the next year, reeling in a targeted income of 172 billion baht, focusing on income generated by quality tourism and not the number of visitors.
