TAT organises event to promote health tourism

BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has kicked off the Thailand Health and Wellness Tourism Showcase 2015 earlier today, aiming to create a revenue of over 500 million baht during the week-long event. Minister of Tourism and Sports Ms Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul had presided over the opening ceremony this morning. The exhibition under the theme, "Anti-aging: The Next Big Thing in Health Tourism", is targeted to present Thai health-related business entrepreneurs' potention and to create confidence among foreign tourists and health tourism businesses. The showcase would also include academic seminars and platforms to exchange knowledge and experiences on anti-aging with experts from both Thailand and around the world. Visitors could also participate in free checkup demonstrations and shop for dietary supplement, which would also be on display at the event. The minister said Thailand has high potential in both personnel and locations to provide health-related services, and these have attracted more than 10,000 health tourism enthusiasts to visit Thailand annually. She added that this group of visitors usually spend around 50,000-300,000 baht each per trip here in Thailand and that the event alone is expected to draw in around 500 million baht. The minister has hoped that the event would also help increase Thailand's potential in becoming a hub to providing world class anti-aging services to the rest of the world. The showcase is scheduled to be held today until September 17. (TNA)
