Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA - Tehran will host the United Nations symposium titled “Mainstreaming Policies Into Integrated National Sustainable Development Planning for Enhancing Sustainable Tourism, Urbanization, Resource Efficiency, Biodiversity and Environmental Protection” during Oct. 14-16. Ali Nemati, a senior official of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, added that the ministers of target tourism states will attend the three-day event, according to Wednesday's edition of 'Iran Daily'. Nemati said UN member-states should abide by their commitments to UN programs such as sustainable development plan. “The ratifications of the symposium will be discussed in the UN General Assembly,” he said, adding “Using the capacities of nations for sustainable development as a global concern is one of the aims of the symposium.” Experts from various states will participate in the symposium to speak about their latest developments regarding sustainable development. Participants in the symposium are senior experts and representatives of UN. “Specialized panels would be held by two chiefs: one from Iran as the host nation and the other from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs,” he said.
